This hard working, 24cm copper Rondeau, with Classical range cast iron loop handles, is as versatile as it is attractive. With its low sides and wide base, it is an ideal braising vessel, providing a perfect ratio of cooking area to vessel height. But why stop at braising when there's so much more this beauty can do?  Perhaps you'll begin by browning your meat on the hob, then tucking it into the oven with a lid to slowly stew.   

Whether poaching, braising, stewing or browning, the solid copper body provides even heat distribution, which gives you accurate temperature regulation throughout the cooking process. The bushed stainless steel lining ensures that your food flavours are pure, while the two handles provide safe lifting from hob to oven to table. This piece is a great introduction to the range, offering so many cooking options all in one convenient pot.

Use tips

  • Ideal for both electric and gas hobs.
  • Oven safe to 230°C/450°F/Gas Mark 8.
  • Because of its superior conductivity, copper cookware rarely requires full heat on a hob, typically no more than 50-75% of full power.  Use a lower flame when cooking with gas.
  • We recommend seasoning pan interiors with a vegetable oil occasionally prior to frying and sautéing, and always use a small amount of oil when pre-heating.

Care tips

  • Always allow pots and pans to cool before cleaning.
  • Do not put copper cookware in a mechanical dishwasher.
  • We do not recommend the use of products containing bleach for cleaning copper cookware.
  • Hand washing in warm soapy water is normally all that is required.  Always dry immediately after washing with a soft cloth.
  • Copper will develop a rich patina over time.  This will not affect cooking performance.
  • To keep copper pans looking like new, use a polish suitable for copper and a fine abrasive pad.
  • Apply a light coat of vegetable oil to cast iron handles from time to time to prevent rusting.

This rondeau pan, however, is just fabulous. The 24cm pan is great for family dining and looks great when placed in the centre of the table for everybody to help themselves.

Should I buy a lid with this?

Many cooking tasks do not require a lid, others require a lid on the pan.

A lid does however keep both moisture and heat in the pan. When simmering liquids you generally want to retain the moisture. The liquid will also simmer at a lower temperature under a lid.

We sell our lids separately, so that pans can be purchased without these. Also, all our lids are interchangeable. A 24cm lid will fit a 24cm saucepan, stewpot, casserole, etc.
